Dr. Alberta Harmon is frustrated with life. Always differnet, she chooses to enter the medical profession as a surgeon--a male-dominated world in the 1950s. Getting through med school as a woman was hard enough, but her life at the hospital is sheer hell.

Even at home, a mansion of a house few people find welcoming, things are difficult. She has strange dreams about sex with a man she doesn't know, and dungeons and dragons.

When she discovers sections of the house unknown before and opens hidden doors to worlds in other dimensions, she fears she's going to a little insane.

Then her dream man shows up and her dreams prove a poor comparison to the real thing. When Henry, a wizard who explains her position as Mistress of the House, arrives and drives her mad feeding sexual fantasies she didn't know she had...well, a little insanity isn't such a bad thing.
